EQUAL JobRotation Projects
The WEA, who manage the EQUAL JobRotation programme in partnership with the Greater Pollok Development Company and Stirling Council, are pleased to offer employers in the Glasgow City Council and Stirling Council areas the opportunity to increase the skills and competitiveness of their business through the access of funds for training and development.
What are the aims and objectives of JobRotation?
- Promoting Lifelong Learning
JobRotation provides the opportunity for existing employees and potential employees to access training and development, update and increase skills, build confidence and enhance employability potential.
- Supporting Enterprise - Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
Companies operate in a highly competitive environment. Investment in staff is a major key to survival and growth. JobRotation supports companies by helping them to identify their training needs and develop a training plan. It then funds a programme of training for staff, designed to meet the business needs of the company. This in turn increases the skills and competitiveness of the company.
- Creating Jobs
Unemployed/unwaged people face great challenges in accessing training and employment. This is particularly true of the age group 45+ and the long-term unemployed who may find that employers are looking for people with specific skills and experience, which are current. JobRotation prepares, trains and places in paid employment people who are currently unemployed/unwaged.
In summary what does JobRotation offer?
- A training needs analysis and subsequent company training plan
- A training fund to develop at least 4 existing employees.
- A training fund for unemployed /unwaged individuals looking for work.
- Preparatory training for individuals looking for work.
- 6 months guaranteed work for individuals entering a JobRotation SME post.

Participating SME's
Cowie Panel Processors
Claimed as the most successful 'community-owned' business in the UK. All profits from this manufacturing unit are ploughed back into the Cowie community. Cowie is former mining community that has ceased all mining operations and so the unemployment is high. This is a fantastic operation and worth checking out.
Independent Rural Insurance Ltd
Small organisation specialising in agricultural insurance and associated services. Established in 1997 it has developed a niche market and become well established in the farming community. Being small it has benefited greatly from the training grant and all that JobRotation offered by way of JRT selection and support. Their skill-base has increased considerably in ICT and specialised programme training that JobRotation was able to arrange for them.
Wheels Cycling Centre
Specialising in mountain bikes and backpackers. Operates a very slick, modern, custom-built Swiss chalet designed, establishment in deepest Stirlingshire - the backwoods of Callander. Beautiful position, residential, conference centre, outdoor focussed - very photogenic! Gained much from JobRotation in that we supported specialised training on mountain bikes - I seem to remember as a kid doing my own thing with wheels but the present technology now puts such bikes as Wheels look after/sell/hire in the class of the Lamborghini.
Falcon Foodservice Group
Part of the massive AGA FoodService Group of companies. A very sophisticated and progressive company yet manufacturing essentially very traditional commercial catering equipment. 'Traditional' in the sense - and here I speak as an engineer - that what they make is almost a work of art in its own right. Finely tuned design, beautifully finished and chunky - designed to last several life-times! Recently re-located to a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in a superb rural setting in the shadow of the Wallace Monument - the factory formerly belonged to Compaq. The are 'very' training oriented and committed to constant up-skilling their workforce to meet both their needs and the aspirations of the engineering staff they employ. In the light of their training focus they gained much from JobRotation.
Goodwood Timber Homes Ltd
A very recently 're-born' company specialising in high quality timber design and manufacture for the construction industry. The former company had been operating in the same market for some 38 years and for wrong reasons went into liquidation. The new management has retained the best of the former expertise and is growing apace. With its commitment to high manufacturing quality and tight focus on customer satisfaction appears to re-captured much of what was essentially lost in the demise of the previous company. It is dynamic, forward looking and again committed to training and developing the skill-base.
SIM
A rapidly growing electrical service company specialising in total electrical/electronic security systems both domestic and commercial. Highly specialised and very pleased to have the financial help to gain the specialised training. Proud of it quality of service offered and as a result has grown a reputation which has opened the way to growth in what is essentially a sensitive market in a world where the semantic value of the word security is becoming increasingly narrow.
