Mobile Learning Initiative
During the first round of Equal many organisations benefited from using the Mobile Learning Initiative (MOLI) coach. The approach behind this initiative was to be able to take the learning out to target groups, removing the barriers of distance and time that frequently prevent participation.
This was very successful in enabling us to successfully target many people who otherwise could not have participated. MOLI offers a classroom delivered to site and all the equipment necessary for ICT training. MOLI is a coach and therefore needs a dedicated driver and a backup specialist maintenance team.
Smaller vehicles will require less maintenance and upkeep and can be driven by anyone with a standard car licence. We intend to procure vehicles to be easily used by staff, with the minimum of training, so they can be used independently by partners for days or weeks at a time.
Mini MOLIs are small vans that are equipped with 11 laptops, a wireless connection and a satellite broadband connection. The vehicles will be available to all contributing partners across Scotland. They will be a mechanism to help partners achieve their target objectives.
