Mobile/Wireless Technology

The explosion in mobile and wireless technology has led analysts to claim that communication is to the 21st century what the personal computer was to the 20th. The Internet has already transformed the way we do business; mobile and wireless technologies will do the same in the coming decade.

Our aim in this project is to raise the awareness of, and promote and train organisations in the value of mobile and wireless technology, and therefore accelerate the uptake of solutions.

The project will involve setting up a number of pilot schemes to work with local businesses and communities to engage in wireless and mobile technologies to exchange data using mobile devices such as smart phones, PDAs and hand-held computers.

We will identify the most appropriate technology for SMEs and the effect that this will have on the current technology and business models, producing case studies, discovering best practices, identifying applications, and train employees and employers.
