Exciting future for Mobile Technology in Scotland
Speaking at the ‘Mobilising for Profit’ Conference hosted by MX Alliance at Adam Smith College, David Farquhar, President of 2in10 Ltd, announced that a major European funded mobile solution is to engage with a Scottish manufacturing company. Farquhar commented; ‘this is very exciting as it is something which could turn a lot of other companies on to working with mobile technology in Scotland.’ Full details of the project are due to be announced shortly.
Farquhar said that the uptake of mobile technology in Scotland has seen a significant increase recently and believed more events like the one held at Adam Smith College, would greatly improve mobility awareness by providing an opportunity for industries to showcase the benefits available to every type of business.
Also speaking at the conference was Mike Short, Vice President, Research and Development for O2. Short believed the conference to be vital for Scottish businesses stating; ‘Scotland needs to focus on what it needs, where it can innovate and where it can add value. I believe the possibility to innovate is a lot stronger in Scotland than in many other parts of the world.’
MX Alliance’s aim is to promote the value and accelerate the uptake of mobile and wireless solutions in Scotland. The event, attended by the leading lights of mobile technology in Scotland and the UK, explained the benefits of the latest advancements in mobility to businesses; advancements that would help Scottish companies reduce its costs and improve their relations with both customers and partners.
The latest technology available was demonstrated, with mobile barcode registration for the event, as well as a live mobile vote on the day and video link-up to Boston with leading U.S. mobile expert Tim Scannell.
An exhibitor at the conference, Dr Peter Burtwistle, Managing Director of Sysnet described the venue and facilities at the College in Kirkcaldy as first-class.
