promoting the skills and experience of older people (Older Workers Learning)

The 50+ Challenge project was set up over five years ago with the aim of promoting people who are over 50 as active, reliable and experienced potential employees. The University of Strathclyde manages the project, which has considerable experience in training and supporting older unemployed into work, self employment, volunteering and further study in the West of Scotland.

50+ Challenge offers participants:

  • A Register of members' skills
  • Individual assistance and support to help them locate work in the paid and voluntary sectors
  • Careers guidance and advice
  • Help with job search
  • Advice and support in drawing up a CV or personal profile
  • 'On Target' personal development
  • Self employment opportunities in conjunction with the Small Business Gateway
  • Training Opportunities – eg Ways to Work and IT
