Scottish Worklife Adaptability Network (SWAN)

The Scottish Worklife Adaptability Network aims to develop and disseminate a range of tested methods and practices to help firms recruit, train and retain workers in the 45+ age group, by adopting new operational and organisational practices to improve worklife balance and utilising appropriate new technologies.

SWAN members include Greater Pollok Development Company, Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire Council, Stirling Council, University of Strathclyde and the Workers' Educational Association. SWAN is operating projects in both urban and rural areas to ensure a range of sectorial and geographic factors are incorporated into development activity.

 

Projects:

  • Stirling JobRotation: to support older workers and SMEs in improving adaptability and worklife balance practice in a rural environment.
  • Greater Pollok JobRotation: to support older workers and SMEs in improving adaptability and worklife balance practice in an urban area.
  • Flexible Employment Network: a Scotland wide network of employers exploring innovation in working practice, using web based networking and support processes.
  • South Lanarkshire Roots: aspecialist genealogy project, developing adaptability within the tourism/heritage sector in South Lanarkshire.
